International Democracy Day

In celebration of International Democracy Day, Global Democracy Coalition partner organizations around the world will hold events to celebrate and raise public awareness about democracy. Several events will be held in both Washington D.C. and Brussels and other parts of the world.

In Washington, D.C. International IDEA and partners will hold a hybrid event to celebrate democracy activism and democracy defenders of different kinds across a variety of contexts. The event will also provide the opportunity to discuss the most effective ways to support them, to advance and protect democracy worldwide, showcasing stories and examples from partner organizations in the Global Democracy Coalition and their local partners.

In Brussels, International IDEA, the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP), and Carnegie Europe are proud to organise the 2022 edition of the International Democracy Day Brussels conference. The event will take place at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels and online, with the support of the European Parliament and the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
